Levels of learning and support at Kellyville Ridge PS
Kellyville Ridge Public School promotes a three-tiered approach to organising learning support. These tiers relate to the level of support needed.
Universal Support Tier 1: those students whose needs are being met through high quality teaching within the regular classroom program by their classroom teacher.
Targeted Support Tier 2: those for whom tier one is not sufficient. Differentiations are made as appropriate. These students will require targeted support by the classroom teacher in their area/s of learning difficulty in order to improve learning outcomes.
Within this group there may be a group of students who will need targeted intervention. These students will be supported by specific programs in the classroom developed in conjunction with the LaST. The SLSO may also support these students.
Intensive Support Tier 3: a small group of students for whom tiers one and two are still insufficient, and for whom intensive support is required in their area/s of learning difficulty. This will be the relatively few students who experience the greatest difficulties with learning.
The school responds to these three levels of need in three distinctly different ways, and learning support roles (including that of the LaST) are given direction by the nature of these school response.
